Migration Department expelled more illegal migrants last year than in the previous 10 years combined. The Prime Minister of Georgia said this in today’s video address.
"Primarily, we are bolstering the capabilities of the Migration Department, which has expelled more illegal migrants in the past year than over the previous 10 years combined. This enhancement will enable us to eliminate illegal migration, with current figures exceeding 20,000, within a few years. Furthermore, as many are aware, the legal restrictions on foreign labour in Georgia will be markedly increased from March 1, a step aimed at safeguarding the interests of both our economy and our citizens.
Government fully commits to implementing this law effectively. In 2017, we introduced an amendment to the Constitution prohibiting the sale of agricultural land to foreigners. Protecting and preserving Georgia`s national and religious identity remains one of our most vital national priorities, and the Government will do everything necessary to uphold this", - Irakli Kobakhidze has stated.
