Within the frames of the fight against illegal migration, employees of the Migration Department under the Ministry of Internal Affairs conducted special immigration control measures. Based on the information obtained, within the framework of the conducted special activities, specific locations were inspected by the department employees, which aimed to identify foreign nationals residing in Georgia without a legal basis.
As a result of the complex measure, 32 foreign citizens were detained. Among them are citizens of China, India, Nepal, Pakistan, and Cuba. It was established that the detained persons resided in the country in violation of the requirements established by the Law of Georgia “On the Legal Status of Foreigners and Stateless Persons”.
At this stage, the detainees are being held at the Migration Department’s temporary accommodation center. Relevant procedures are underway to deport them from the country.
The Migration Department carries out special immigration control on the regular basis to ensure the effective enforcement of the Law of Georgia “On the Legal Status of Foreigners and Stateless Persons”.
