Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Mariam Kvrivishvili met with French Minister of Transport Philippe Tabarot, during which priority areas of economic cooperation were discussed.

The meeting was held in Tashkent [in the framework of the Trans-Caspian Transport Corridor and Connectivity Investment Forum and Ministerial on Transport of the European Union, Central Asia, the South Caucasus and the Black Sea Region] and was focused on the transport and logistics sectors.

The Georgian side discussed in detail the large-scale transport and logistics infrastructure projects supported by the state, the development of which would make transport routes passing through Georgia, including the Trans-Caspian Transport Corridor, more competitive, which would contribute to the increase in connectivity between Asia and Europe.

Among such priority projects were the modernization and renovation of the railway infrastructure, the East-West highway, the new Tbilisi International Airport, and etc.

The parties also discussed deepening of cooperation in railways, maritime transport, civil aviation sectors.

The officials focused on investments by French companies in the transport and logistics sectors and expressed their readiness to support them. Kvrivishvili and Tabarot expressed their government’s readiness to promote further cooperation between the two countries in transport and logistics, as well as the development of regional transport corridors.
