The State Security Service of Georgia uncovers a weapons cache

The State Security Service of Georgia uncovered a weapons cache, from which it seized various types of explosives and ammunition.

“Within the framework of the investigation launched against Ahmed Chataev and his group in 2017, the Counter-Terrorism Center of the State Security Service received operational information that part of the group"s ammunition, after their neutralization, had been stored for years in a place indicated by a source, after which the employees of the Counter-Terrorism Center found a firearm, 5 pistols, 161 cartridges, 3 hand grenades, various types of explosives, including TNT, as well as first aid medical items in a forest massif located near the village of Lechuri in the Telavi municipality”, - reads the statement of the State Security Service.

The investigation is underway under Articles 323, 331 Prima, 344, 328 and 236 of the Criminal Code
