Georgia is increasingly assuming the role of a strategic connector between Europe and Asia. Our cooperation with China is producing tangible results in trade, infrastructure and investment, creating new opportunities and strengthening our economic resilience, stated the Prime Minister of Georgia during his address at the opening ceremony of the China International Import Expo.

He underlined the importance of the Expo in enhancing global trade, promoting partnerships and showcasing innovative solutions, noting that it contributes to building a more open and sustainable global economy.

Prime Minister of Georgia spoke about the long-standing relationship and strategic partnership between Georgia and China, founded on mutual respect and trust, and highlighted cooperation within the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative.

“China has become one of Georgia’s key trading partners. The entry into force of the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) in January 2018 - covering nearly 95% of Georgian exports - was a game changer, significantly boosting trade volumes.

In the first nine months of 2025 alone, bilateral trade reached 1.6 billion USD, marking an impressive 15% increase. Such growth reflects the strength of our bilateral economic relations and points to even greater potential for expansion in the years ahead.

China’s continued efforts to open its vast market and expand access to key sectors create important opportunities for Georgian businesses, enabling them to reach global markets and embrace innovation.

The number of containers shipped between China and Georgia via the Middle Corridor increased by 71% in January-August 2025. Moreover, last year, the volume of cargo transported was 15 times higher than the previous year.

Georgia once again reaffirms its readiness to continue cooperation aimed at further increasing transport flows between China and Europe through the Middle Corridor”, - said Irakli Kobakhidze.
