When even 300 people cannot be mobilised on Rustaveli Avenue, it signifies that this is not a protest, it is a radical rally funded from abroad - Kobakhidze

For the first time in a year, radicals have been unable to block a street, said today the Prime Minister of Georgia.

“This signifies that the new legislation is now in effect. Of course, we must not become complacent; we need to continue working diligently.

Ultimately, radicalism must be eliminated from our country. Fifty radicals can’t commit violence against 1.7 million citizens. Legislation has been enacted to address this, and we are already seeing that the new law is beginning to function effectively.

Every day, around 50 people block the street, so it is only logical that approximately 20-25 individuals are detained daily. I want to thank the Ministry of Internal Affairs. This is not a protest. When even 300 people cannot be mobilised on Rustaveli Avenue, despite full mobilisation efforts, it signifies that this is not a protest. It is a radical rally funded from abroad. A mere 300 Georgian citizens have come out, and of course, this cannot be called a protest. We cannot be forced to label something as a protest when it is not genuinely one”, - said Irakli Kobakhidze.
