The geographical location of our country, its modern infrastructure, stable macroeconomic environment and strong trend of economic development create a unique opportunity for Georgia to become an important hub connecting Europe and Asia - in the fields of trade, energy, transport and now finance as well, said the Prime Minister of Georgia in his keynote speech delivered today at the opening of the Tbilisi Financial Summit.
He spoke about a strong macroeconomic position of the country amid global economic challenges in recent years, noting that from 2021 to 2024, the average economic growth rate of Georgia reached almost 10%.
“This dynamic continues in the current year as well - according to preliminary data, economic growth in the first eight months of 2025 amounted to 7.9%. High economic growth is largely driven by structural changes and the development of relatively high-productivity sectors, including information technology and financial services. Alongside economic growth, price stability has also been achieved. Since the beginning of 2023, inflation has decreased and remained below the target level for two consecutive years. In 2024, the average inflation rate stood at 1.1 percent, at a time when many countries around the world were facing high inflation as a major challenge. Price stability is being maintained this year as well. Georgia’s financial sector is developing dynamically and is becoming increasingly attractive for investors”, - added Irakli Kobakhidze.
As he added, Government of Georgia and National Bank are actively promoting increased competition in the financial sector, expanding access to financial services, introducing innovative products and developing financial technologies.
“The introduction of digital services and technological innovations in the financial sector offers consumers modern, fast and secure services. At the same time, access to finance is increasing, which encourages additional investments, the expansion of local businesses and the creation of new jobs. The Tbilisi Financial Summit will promote regional cooperation in the development of financial services, enabling Georgia to become a hub for financial technologies. This will also help attract additional investment to the countries of the Middle Corridor, boost economic growth and strengthen and simplify the flow of trade cargo in the region”, - said Irakli Kobakhidze.
