Starting from the end of September, Turkish low-cost airline AJet will operate regular flights between Tbilisi and Ankara with a frequency of 4 times a week.
According to the Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, the Georgian government is actively working towards the development of direct connectivity in the country, and the launch of Tbilisi-Ankara-Tbilisi flights is an example of this.
"Turkey is one of Georgia`s important trade and economic partners. Accordingly, direct flights between Tbilisi and Ankara will contribute to the development of both business and economy, as well as tourism between our countries", - said Irakli Nadareishvili.
According to data from last year, more than 1.2 million passengers were transported by air between Georgia and Turkey, which amounted to 47% of the total passenger flow between Georgia and neighboring countries. As for general statistics: As of the first seven months of 2025, a record number of more than 20 000 international and domestic flights were operated at Georgian airports. The number of passenger and cargo flights performed in January-July exceeds the number of flights performed in the same period in 2024 by 16%.
At this stage, flights are performed at all 3 international airports of the country with a frequency of approximately 745 flights per week, and passenger traffic has also increased by 13%.
