According to the data of the last month of the current year, at the customs checkpoints "Sarpi", "Kazbegi" and "Ninotsminda", attempts to illegally import a large amount of undeclared cigarettes across the country’s border were prevented. Such a statement was issued by the Revenue Service of Georgia.
"Customs officers of the Revenue Service of the Ministry of Finance, based on the relevant risk profile and suspicion, as a result of a detailed physical examination, as well as checking the belonging luggage/cars of Georgian and foreign citizens, discovered a total of 18,620 undeclared pieces of cigarettes.
In accordance with Part 3 of Article 168 of the Customs Code of Georgia, the goods were confiscated from the violating citizens as a sanction and a fine of 1,000 GEL was imposed on each of them. In accordance with Article 168, Part 31 of the Customs Code of Georgia, one law-breaking citizen, who had repeatedly committed the act, was fined 3,000 GEL as a sanction", - reads the statement.
