Today, we commemorate the jubilee of the State Security Service, the guardian of peace, sovereignty, and democracy in our country, declared the Speaker of Parliament, Shalva Papuashvili, addressing the assembled attendees at the ceremony commemorating the professional day of the Security Service.
In the context of the current critical geopolitical situation, the Security Service’s flexibility, complete alertness, and professionalism assume even greater significance.
As per the Speaker’s statement, the outcomes of the Service’s activities have been extensively evidenced in recent times. These outcomes have demonstrated the Service’s efficacy in successfully executing a diverse range of tasks and assignments, including extensive special operations.
“Today, we commemorate the jubilee of the State Security Service, the guardian of peace, sovereignty, and democracy in our country. The State Security Service remains vigilant in safeguarding our statehood and challenges with high professionalism and responsibility, even amidst the escalating global tensions.
As the world security landscape becomes increasingly intricate and volatile, the Service’s flexibility, complete alertness, and professionalism assume even greater significance”, - he underscored.
“In recent years, it has become evident that the formation of international policy is not solely driven by altruism, but rather by the pursuit of national interests. This reality presents a challenge in achieving compromise and cooperation among nations. Consequently, the primary criterion for decision-making by any state institution, particularly for the critical component of the security system, should be the prioritisation of national interests.
Your activities demand immense effort, including alertness, courage, and unwavering devotion.
You have consistently demonstrated the efficacy of your activities. These outcomes have underscored the Service’s ability to successfully execute a wide range of tasks and assignments, including extensive special operations, whether it be in response to foreign threats, countering corruption, curbing terrorist activities, or neutralising hybrid threats.
Your routine activities serve as an invisible shield for our citizens and institutions, safeguarding them from domestic or external threats. By facilitating peace, security, and stability within our country, you enable the development of our statehood. This includes preserving high economic growth, creating business and tourism-friendly conditions, and ensuring the well-being of our citizens.
Your successful operation also demonstrates that genuine security does not imply the absence of threats, but rather the high level of trust placed in our institutions, democracy, and the individuals who safeguard these beneficial aspects.
Through your unwavering devotion, diligence, integrity, loyalty, and love for your homeland, you have earned this trust.
On behalf of the Parliament, I extend my sincere congratulations to every officer of the State Security Service on the occasion of the anniversary of the establishment of your office. I affirm my immense respect and express my gratitude for your productive activities, which reinforce our aspirations for a peaceful and secure future. I urge you to maintain the highest standards in your service”, - the Speaker stated.
