The newly appointed Ambassador of Georgia to the United States, Tamar Taliashvili, formally presented her credentials to the US President, Donald Trump, during an official ceremony in the White House.
As part of the ceremony, Ambassador met with the US President, who extended his best wishes to the ambassador in her new diplomatic role.
“It was a significant day for U.S.-Georgia relations. I had the honor of presenting my credentials to the President of the United States, Donald Trump. During our conversation, I also conveyed the greetings and best wishes of the Government of Georgia, the Georgian people, the Prime Minister, and the President of Georgia. I shared with President Trump the key messages that define our country’s position toward the United States – messages that reflect Georgia’s readiness to open a new chapter in our bilateral relationship, grounded in mutual benefit and strengthened partnership. We are committed to deepening the people-to-people connections that already exist between our nations”, - said Tamar Taliashvili.
She underlined the “cordial and friendly atmosphere” in which the meeting took place.
Marco Rubio, the US Secretary of State, also attended the ceremony.
“I want to express my sincere gratitude to the US administration for making it possible to organize this important ceremony involving Georgia in such a short time frame. It is also important to highlight the strong support we received to ensure that all necessary procedures were completed as swiftly and efficiently as possible.
A day prior to the credential presentation, I had a productive and meaningful meeting with the Chief of Protocol of the US, Ambassador Monica Crawley. Throughout these engagements, we had the opportunity to discuss ways to further strengthen Georgia–U.S. relations and to outline the action plan that will guide our future cooperation, ensuring that it remains strong, strategic, and enduring”, - noted Tamar Taliashvili.
