Based on joint nomination by the Prime Minister and Speaker of Parliament, President awards members of the National Judo Team of Georgia

The President of Georgia awarded members of the national judo team, their coaches and the leadership of the Judo Federation with Orders and Medals of Honor, based on the joint nomination of Irakli Kobakhidze, Prime Minister of Georgia and Shalva Papuashvili, Speaker of Parliament of Georgia.

At the award ceremony held at the Presidential Palace, the President, the Prime Minister, and the Speaker congratulated the athletes once again on their outstanding achievements and thanked them for bringing pride to the nation.

By decision of Irakli Kobakhidze, the national judo team of Georgia will receive a monetary award of 1 million GEL in recognition of their World Championship title.

In recognition of her outstanding contribution to the country, Eter Liparteliani, member of the Georgian women’s national judo team and world champion, was awarded the Order of Queen Tamar.

For their historic achievements in sport, the Order of Honor was awarded to: Giorgi Sardalashvili, Luka Maisuradze, Mikheil Bakhbakhashvili, Mariam Chanturia, Sophio Somkhishvili, Eter Askilashvili, Kakhaber Motsradze, coach of the women’s national judo team; Giorgi Atabegashvili, Vice President of the Judo Federation; National team doctors Avtandil Telia and Giorgi Mgeladze.

Medals of Honor were awarded to: Giorgi Jabniashvili, Irakli Demetrashvili, Saba Inaneishvili, Nino Loladze, Nodar Metreveli, national team coach; Levan Nozadze, President of Judo Federation; Giorgi Kazalikashvili, national team physician.
