The history of our country and the Georgian Armed Forces are inseparable. If we are an independent and sovereign state today, it is first and foremost thanks to the heroism of the Georgian soldier and our military - something we must treat with utmost respect, said the Prime Minister of Georgia during his speech at the inauguration of the military camp in Kojori.
He emphasized the importance of the military camp project in fostering patriotic spirit and strengthening national identity among youth. According to the Head of Government, the key to strengthening the country lies in raising patriotic sentiment and instilling pride in the homeland.
“Whenever our homeland needed protection, it was the Georgian soldier who stood at the forefront of defending our national interests and independence. This has continued in the years since Georgia regained its statehood. Over the past 35 years, the Georgian army has endured three wars - all of them unequal - yet each time, the Georgian soldier demonstrated the highest level of heroism. If we are an independent and sovereign nation today, it is, above all, due to the bravery of our soldiers and military. This must be honored with deep respect. Georgian society recognizes this - and every public survey confirms that, after the Georgian Orthodox Church, the military enjoys the highest level of public trust. This trust has been earned through courage and sacrifice and it is something we must honor and protect”, - said Irakli Kobakhidze.
He inaugurated the military camp alongside Mikheil Kavelashvili, President of Georgia; Irakli Chikovani, Deputy Prime Minister/Minister of Defense and Alexander Tsuladze, Minister of Education, Science and Youth Affairs. The Prime Minister toured the training facilities of the camp and observed a demo competition held by participants.
This year, the military camp will host a total of 1700 students. In Kojori and Sachkhere, approximately 100 students will participate in each 6-day rotation. The military camp program includes firearms training, topography and military navigation, basic first aid and casualty evacuation, survival skills, engineering and mountain training.
