I think we will achieve high economic growth this year as well - Levan Davitashvili

I think we will achieve high economic growth this year as well. Such a statement the First Vice Prime Minister/Minister of Economy, Levan Davitashvili, made at an economic forum where Georgia’s investment policy and new opportunities were discussed.

“Our policy is oriented toward economic growth. Since the pandemic, we’ve maintained an average economic growth of around 9.7%, which is twice the average economic growth rate of EU candidate countries. This indicator is one of the highest in the broader region and needs to be maintained. Especially at a time when international processes are quite unpredictable.

Georgia received more than USD 5 billion in foreign direct investment (FDI) between 2022 and 2024… There is significant diversification both in the geography of investor countries and in the sectors where these investments were made. It’s important for us that these investments are of high quality, that they have a spillover effect in the long-term perspective, and that they are directed toward qualitative improvements in various sectors of the economy.

The volume of foreign direct investments is approximately 6% of the gross domestic product, which is one of the highest indicators worldwide among countries with economies similar to Georgia’s. We want to maintain this benchmark for several years”, - said Levan Davitashvili.
