MPs are discussing a draft law that is a literal translation of the FARA law in force in the US and a media law developed on the British model today. According to the head of the cabinet of the parliamentary majority leader, Vakhtang Chochia, there is an interest of external interference in Georgia, therefore this draft law shows the public who specific individuals serve.

"The introduction of these 2 laws is important to the extent that we know that there are interests of a foreign power in Georgia. Our opposition and specific NGOs are involved in pursuing the interests of these foreign powers, therefore, these laws ensure that, on the one hand, the public has information about whose and what interests these or those TV media outlets and our non-governmental sector serve, and on the other hand, it will minimize external interference when the public understands who these people serve", - said Vakhtang Chochia.
