Sports Committee briefed on the six-month report on the execution of the 2026 State Budget

At a meeting of the Sports Committee, First Deputy Finance Minister Giorgi Kakauridze presented the six-month report on the execution of the 2026 State Budget.

The presenter discussed the macroeconomic and fiscal parameters of the main financial document, as well as the financial indicators for the reporting period.

Giorgi Kakauridze briefed the Committee on economic growth, the inflation rate, the foreign trade sector, and remittances. He also spoke about the revenue and expenditure components of the consolidated and state budgets.

According to the reporter, during the reporting period, the Sports Ministry utilized 93.3% of its state budget allocation, representing 52% of the annual plan. He noted that, in light of the results achieved by Georgian athletes at international sporting tournaments, the issue of increasing the Ministry of Sport’s funding may be raised by the end of the year. According to Victor Sanikidze, Chair of the Sports Committee, it is welcome that the state budget increases every year and that this trend continues.

He said that, in view of this, the Sports Committee hopes that funding for the Sports Ministry and sports federations will be increased further when the 2027 State Budget is prepared.

The Sports Committee positively assessed the information and took note of the report.
