Sakpatenti held a landmark cultural event in Geneva and presented Georgia`s rich cultural and historical heritage to the international community

The 68th Series of Meetings of the Assemblies of the Member States of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) opened in Geneva, bringing together representatives from around the world. On this occasion, Sakpatenti hosted a cultural event dedicated to showcasing Georgia`s national identity, cultural diversity and intellectual heritage.

At the event, the First Lady of Georgia, Tamar Bagrationi, delivered remarks, highlighting the importance of the longstanding cooperation between Georgia and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). She highlighted Georgia’s unique cultural heritage, including the Georgian alphabet, the country`s thousands-of-years-old winemaking tradition, and its rich historical heritage. She also expressed her gratitude to WIPO Director General Daren Tang for WIPO`s support in protecting and promoting Georgia`s cultural heritage.

Soso Giorgadze, Chairman of Sakpatenti, in his remarks, noted that Georgia has been and continues to be a crossroads of world civilizations throughout the centuries. He underlined that Georgian culture has never been isolated; at the same time, it has always remained unique and distinctive. Daren Tang, Director General of WIPO, also addressed the audience, highlighting the longstanding and fruitful cooperation with Sakpatenti. In his remarks, he placed particular emphasis on the rich intellectual and creative achievements of the Georgian people and the country’s historical heritage.

The event was also attended by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia Alexander Khvtisiashvili, the Permanent Representative of Georgia to the UN Office and other International Organizations in Geneva, Ambassador Revaz Lominadze, hundreds of delegates from more than 190 countries, representatives of the diplomatic corps, international organizations, members of the cultural and business communities, senior government officials and leading figures in the intellectual property field.

As part of the event, a special exhibition area was arranged, where displays showcased the Georgian language and its unique writing system, the 1,700-year-old continuous history of Christianity in Georgia, centuries-old literature, and 8,000-year-old wine culture, as well as traditional Georgian attire and jewelry art pieces preserved by the Ministry of Culture of Georgia.

A concert of Georgian folk songs and dances was also held, with the ensemble “Basiani” performing iconic works of Georgian folklore, such as "Chakrulo", "Mravalzhamieri", "Khasanbegura" and "Odoia". The Georgian National Ballet “Sukhishvili” performed choreographic pieces "Tsdo", "Ilouri", "Khevsuruli" and "Juta". The evening concluded with an official reception, during which guests were served traditional dishes and wine.

In terms of its significance, the event not only contributes to the promotion of Georgia's national intellectual property assets but also serves as an effective platform for strengthening the country’s international positioning, enhancing Georgia`s international visibility, and fostering new partnerships. The Georgian exhibition area, specially arranged for the event at the WIPO headquarters, will be open to visitors until July 15.
