Officers from the Central Criminal Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Customs Department of the Revenue Service have apprehended a foreign national on suspicion of drug trafficking.
An Israeli citizen identified as H.A., born in 2003, was detained on charges of unlawfully acquiring, possessing, and importing a substantial quantity of psychotropic substances into Georgia.
During investigative operations at Tbilisi International Airport, officers searched the suspect’s luggage, resulting in the seizure of 3,080 pills of the psychotropic medication “Pregabalin” as evidence [prohibited medications were detected by a customs officer during an X-ray inspection of the luggage of a foreign citizen. In particular, after the suspicious contents were discovered, the luggage was marked with a special red adhesive sticker and subjected to an additional physical inspection].
The investigation launched under Articles 261 and 263 of the Criminal Code, which carry a maximum sentence of up to 12 years’ imprisonment.
