Speaker of the Georgian Parliament responds to the detention of former Head of the State Security Service, Grigol Liluashvili.

"Law enforcement agencies are instructed to demonstrate that political or other official issues are not a priority. The Prosecutor`s Office, the State Security Service, and the Ministry of Internal Affairs are actively working to uncover all possible corruption cases.

The Prime Minister assured Parliament and the public that Georgia would rank among the top three European countries in terms of corruption. A key part of this promise is our commitment to actively exposing corruption cases. The strength of the ruling team, our government, is demonstrated by the fact that, if any misconduct exists within our ranks, it will be exposed.

The true measure of strength lies in our willingness to confront and disclose misconduct whenever it occurs… This is a direct result of our sound institutional framework", - said Shalva Papuashvili.
