The Ministry of Environment Protection and Agriculture has traditionally joined the celebration of World Soil Day.

"Healthy Soil - for Healthy Cities" - this is the message of World Soil Day 2025, which draws attention to the importance of sustainable soil development in urban environments.

The event, organized by the Environmental Information and Education Center, served to develop soil science in Georgia and increase the motivation of young specialists.

Researchers and young professionals working in the agricultural and scientific fields were awarded honorary certificates named after Academician Tengiz (Gizo) Urushadze, one of the founders of the Georgian School of Soil Science. The winners of the photo contest "Soil in Urban Cities" were announced at the event.

World Soil Day has been celebrated annually on December 5, at the initiative of the UN General Assembly, since 2014.
