Municipal elections will be held on October 4. Georgian citizens will elect 2,058 members of 64 municipal councils, both proportional and majoritarian systems, and 64 mayors. To ensure the smooth running of the election process, a total of 3,051 polling stations will be opened across the country, of which 2,284 will be electronic, and 767 will be traditional.
As Natia Ioseliani, Spokesperson for the Central Election Commission [CEC], stated at today’s briefing, in order for voters to be able to exercise their right to vote smoothly and fully, prior awareness is of particular importance, the election administration calls on them to check their data in a timely manner and find out where their polling station is located.
Requests for changes to the voter list are available until September 16.
"The election administration offers voters a number of services to verify their data in the Unified Voters List. Among them, data can be verified on the website voters.cec.gov.ge, using a quick payment machine and a mobile application.
To use the mobile application service, you need to download the Voters Georgia – Cesko application, enter your personal number and surname in the appropriate field and get acquainted with your and your family members` data, as well as view the address of the polling station on the map and find out where to vote on October 4.
It is worth noting that voters living in regions densely populated by ethnic minorities can verify their data in the Unified Voters List in Azerbaijani and Armenian on the CEC website (https://ems-voters.cec.gov.ge/). This, in turn, is an important standard for ensuring equal opportunities.
We remind voters that internally displaced persons (IDPs) from Georgia`s occupied territories, whose registered address, according to their Georgian citizen ID or the State Services Development Agency’s database, is in the occupied territories, will be included in the unified voter list based on their actual place of residence.
As for a citizen of Georgia who has been removed from registration according to the place of residence or whose registration has been declared invalid by the decision of the State Services Development Agency, he/she shall be included in the Unified Voters List according to the place of last registration (address) or actual (temporary) place of residence (address).
Those citizens of Georgia who, according to the database of the State Services Development Agency, are registered without indicating their address, shall be included in the Unified Voters List according to their actual (temporary) place of residence (address) in the electronic database of the Agency.
Additionally, individuals with a legal address or those registered without a specified address must contact the Public Service Hall (State Services Development Agency) to make changes. IDPs seeking to update their actual residential address should contact the Ministry of Internally Displaced Persons from the Occupied Territories, Labor, Health, and Social Affairs.
We urge voters who have been deregistered, whose registration has been declared invalid, or who are registered without a specified address to promptly contact the State Services Development Agency by September 13 to verify their information and, if necessary, complete the relevant procedures to participate in the elections. Otherwise, voters will be included in the unified voter list based on their last registered address or actual (temporary) place of residence as recorded in the agency`s electronic database.
Voters` awareness and their active involvement are one of the most important conditions for ensuring transparency and fairness of elections. Timely verification of data in the Unified Voters List not only contributes to the realization of individual electoral rights, "But at a systemic level, it strengthens the transparency of the election administration`s activities. Accordingly, for this very purpose, the election administration calls on you to be active and verify the data in the Unified Voter List. If you find any inaccuracies in your or your family members` data, contact the election administration or the State Services Development Agency to make changes. For additional information, contact us at the CEC contact hub number - 2 51 00 51", - said Natia Ioseliani.
