The outgoing U.S. Ambassador to Georgia releases her farewell video address to the people of Georgia.

“Hello, Georgia.

I want to take this opportunity to say goodbye and thank you. In my 33-years as a diplomat, living and working across the globe, I have never ever met people as warm and generous as the Georgians.

Thank you for opening your hearts and homes to me and my family.

Thank you for sharing your heartfelt toasts, your delicious supras, your magnificent polyphonic singing and your unique culture.

We have travelled across your beautiful country, from Svaneti and Ushguli, to Kakheti and Tusheti and every corner of Tbilisi, and everywhere we went, we were treated like family and were overwhelmed by your generous hospitality.

I know about the special bond between the American and Georgian people that cannot be broken. And I know that Georgia’s place is in the Western family of democracies. By working together, I know that we can create a better future for our children. I am leaving a piece of my heart in Georgia, and I will be forever a true friend of the Georgian people.
