If there is nothing to hide, they should make it transparent to the public who is being financed by Swiss budget funds, for what purpose, and in what volume - Papuashvili to the Swiss Embassy

If there is nothing to hide, they should make it transparent to the public who is being financed by Swiss budget funds, for what purpose, and in what volume, writes the Speaker of the Georgian Parliament on his Facebook page.

As Papuashvili notes, despite repeated public appeals, like some donors, the Swiss Embassy does not disclose who it finances and for what purpose.

"Another false narrative regarding the American law FARA.

I would like to remind the public that despite repeated public appeals, like some donors, the Swiss Embassy does not disclose who it finances and for what purpose. This is when there are facts when foreign money is used to finance hatred, violence and propaganda, which undermines the peaceful development of Georgian society.

Let us assume that this is another appeal to the Swiss Embassy - if there is nothing to hide, they should make it transparent to the public who, for what purpose and in what volume is financed with Swiss budget funds. This would be a basic test of conscientious donorship”, - writes Shalva Papuashvili.

"Georgia`s Foreign Agents Registration Act [FARA] raises concerns about restrictions on freedom of expression, freedom of association, media freedom and civil society space. Swiss Peace Human Rights [SPHR] calls on Georgia to stay committed to its human rights obligations & democratic principles", - reads the statement of the SPHR, which was reposted by the Swiss Embassy in Georgia.
