Messages from President Trump’s administration on the importance of peace are very encouraging, we are ready to cooperate with all states that are focused on peace - Irakli Kobakhidze

Prime Minister of Georgia expressed optimism about the promotion of global peace under the new US administration, stating that his government was ready to cooperate with all peace-oriented nations, including major global powers. He made the relevant statements at the Tbilisi Regional Forum on Sustainable Developm.

“The modern world faces serious challenges when it comes to peace. We are witnessing a large-scale war in our broader region, with several other conflicts ongoing around us. In such a context, it is vital to speak about the importance of peace.

Superpowers play a major role in this process. Today’s conference will also be addressed by the Chinese Ambassador to Georgia, and I believe China is the kind of a global power others should emulate. Over the past 45 years, China has not been involved in any war and has consistently pursued progress, modernisation, and economic growth. Its achievements speak for themselves. We must especially appreciate China’s contribution not only to regional but also to global peace”, - said Irakli Kobakhidze.

He concluded by emphasising that the messages from the new US administration, led by Donald Trump, were very promising in this regard: “They underscore the importance of peace, and I hope that the new administration will encourage peace globally. Georgia is ready to engage in cooperation with all peace-oriented states and global powers, especially those working toward economic development and the well-being of their people”.
