Agreement reached between the Governments of Italy and Georgia regarding the signing of an Agreement on the Mutual Recognition and Exchange of National Driving Licenses

Within the framework of a visit to Rome, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Giorgi Zurabashvili, and the Police Attaché of Georgia in the Italian Republic, Vladimir Bortsvadze, held a meeting at the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of Italy regarding the mutual recognition of driving licenses.

During the meeting, the parties underscored the significance of the matter, which will enable Georgian citizens residing in Italy to exchange their Georgian driving licenses for Italian equivalents without the requirement to undergo an examination.

In the course of the meeting, the parties discussed the substantive aspects of the agreement and expressed hope that, following the prompt completion of the relevant procedures, it will be possible to proceed with the signing of the agreement.

It is noteworthy that the Italian side expressed its full readiness for cooperation.

Intensive negotiations between the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia and the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of the Italian Republic have been ongoing for many years with the aim of concluding the above-mentioned agreement. Furthermore, Georgia has already signed similar agreements with the Kingdom of Spain, the Hellenic Republic, and Ireland.
