I state with full responsibility that our delegation`s participation, cooperation with the NATO PA continues as usual - Mikanadze

Chairman of the Parliament`s Committee on Education, Science and Youth Affairs denied recent media claims that Georgia`s participation in the 2025 Spring Session of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly [NATO PA] was restricted due to an opposition boycott.

The report, published by the opposition-leaning media outlet Tabula, alleged that Georgia`s delegation faced limitations at the event, which was held last week in Dayton.

"I state with full responsibility that our delegation’s participation and cooperation with the NATO PA continues as usual... This is another attempt to spread misinformation. Tabula reported that the Georgian delegation`s participation had been halted, which is simply false. The reality is that 3 MPs from Georgian Dream - Mariam Lashkhi, Levan Makhashvili, and I - attended the NATO PA’s spring session in Dayton, US. No opposition or radical figures were invited, not even as observers.

Our delegation held productive meetings with the Secretary General of the NATO PA and with representatives from various member states, including Italy, Spain, Portugal, Slovenia, North Macedonia, Romania, Hungary, Turkiye.

We provided them with detailed, fact-based information about developments in Georgia, countering disinformation spread by radical groups. Our international partners understood and appreciated the truth about the situation in our country.

In early April, some radical supporters tried to limit our delegation`s authority, but this was resisted by other delegations. As a result, Mariam Lashkhi and I participated in the GSM seminars in Antalya at the end of April. We have already received invitations and registered for upcoming sessions. Our cooperation with NATO PA and member countries continues actively", - said Givi Mikanadze.
