Ultimate victory depends on the unity of society, support of foreign partners, and the creation of a political alternative, said the former president of Georgia, Salome Zourabichvili, addressing the supporters in front of the Parliament building on Independence Day.
“This has been achieved because the protests resonate across all regions and generations - people are rallying in Gori, Batumi, and Zugdidi. These protests energize all marches and rallies.
The 1st outcome is that the Georgian Dream government is losing recognition among our friends and so-called partners.
The 2nd is sanctions, which will continue - this wave targets responsible individuals, not the people. Our foreign partners understand well that on one side are those aspiring for Europe, and on the other, those pursuing only their own interests and aligning with their northern neighbour.
The 3rd element for victory is creating a political alternative that earns the trust of both our people and our partners. No single party can achieve success alone. The Georgian Dream’s only strategy is division - divide and rule - a hallmark of all dictatorial regimes.
We must prevent this. That’s why we established a Resistance Platform, working together to shape our positions for external allies. The Georgian Dream seeks to fragment us by pushing issues like self-government elections and parliamentary entry. But no one intends to enter parliament in this manner. Instead, everyone will likely participate in the elections, which should be first parliamentary, then local, or eventually, both together”, - said Salome Zourasbichvili.
