Georgia had regained its independence, freedom, and democracy, which now provided a solid foundation for the country’s development and integration into the European family. Such a statement the Prime Minister of Georgia made at the event, dedicated to the Independence Day, May 26.
“Our small country has constantly had to exist at the crossroads of great powers. Accordingly, the path of Georgia and the Georgian people has never been easy.
However, Georgians have always had the belief that we are a special nation, chosen by the Mother of God, and it was this belief that gave us the strength to carry our country and its independence through countless storms to this day.
Empires around us have fallen, yet Georgia still stands firmly on its feet under the protection of God and the Most Holy Mother of God.
This has also been the case in Georgia’s recent 35-year history. During these years, we have experienced 4 wars, a 9-year violation of Georgia’s sovereignty, and bloody authoritarianism.
The freedom-loving spirit of the Georgian people prevailed once again, and Georgia regained independence, freedom, and democracy, which today provides a solid foundation for our country’s progress, development, and integration into the European family. It is the duty of each of us to spare no effort in preserving and strengthening Georgia’s independence. Long live an independent, united, and strong Georgia! May God be the protector of our homeland”, - said Irakli Kobakhidze.
