The trial of former President is underway at Tbilisi City Court. Participating remotely via a video link, Mikheil Saakashvili commented on the sessions of the Parliamentary Investigative Commission on the Activities of the 2003-2012 Regime and its Political Officials.

"The task of the so-called investigative commission is broader than to destroy the [United] National Movement. They want to change the genetic code of the Georgian people. Georgia has not had such enemies for centuries.

No matter how hard you try, you cannot take away my place in history! History will certainly vindicate me! You can physically destroy me and you will do it. But, in the end, you will not be able to change our centuries-old genes. This counter-revolution will fail", - said the former president.
