Unfortunately, certain individuals are deliberately trying to cultivate negative expectations within the country; fortunately, neither their forecasts nor their plans are being realized. Such a statement made today the Prime Minister of Georgia.

"I want to cite a comment from one of their representatives, who claimed on January 17 that within 3 months, the exchange rate against the USD would be approximately 3.1. More than 3 months have passed, and the GEL exchange rate now hovers around 2.75. A former politician, now an expert, predicted a 2% decline in the economy. However, as I mentioned, in the 1st quarter, Georgia experienced a robust 9.3% economic growth, with inflation at around 6%. Their forecasts were simply unfounded.

There was speculation that the tax revenue plan would fall short, but as you can see, it was exceeded by over GEL 120 million in the 1st quarter. It is very sad that certain individuals deliberately attempt to create negative expectations and sow nihilism in our society.

This is driven by specific political motives - an order that our opponents are executing. Fortunately, their predictions are not coming true, nor are their plans being realized. We will do everything possible to meet the expectations of our society, not of these detractors.

It is in our nation`s best interest that the economy continues to grow rapidly, that new jobs are created, that wages increase and that we maintain a high level of fiscal discipline. We will spare no effort to sustain and accelerate our economic progress", - said Irakli Kobakhidze.
