Georgian Parliamentary delegation continues meetings in India

The Parliamentary Delegation of Georgia, led by Givi Mikanadze, Chairperson of the Education, Science and Youth Affairs Committee, continues its official visit to the Republic of India.

As part of the programme, Committee Chairperson and members held a meeting with Sukanta Majumdar, Minister of State for Education of India, who also serves as a Member of the Lok Sabha, the lower house of India`s Parliament.


The meeting focused on the exchange of achievements in the fields of education and science between the two countries.


Special emphasis was placed on strengthening cooperation in higher education and research, particularly in light of the growing interest of Indian students in Georgian higher educational institutions. The parties positively assessed the fact that nearly 21,000 Indian students are currently pursuing studies in Georgian universities. They expressed full readiness to deepen cooperation, including in the area of mutual recognition of higher education qualifications.


The Georgian Parliamentary Delegation is composed of Givi Mikanadze, Chairperson of the Education, Science and Youth Affairs Committee, and Committee Members Giorgi Sosiashvili and Vladimer Bozhadze. Also in attendance were Vakhtang Jaoshvili, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to India, and Consul Ketevan Lagvilava.
