Parliament of Greece greenlights driver’s license mutual recognition, exchange agreement with Georgia

The Parliament of Greece ratified the agreement between the governments of Georgia and Greece on the mutual recognition and exchange of national driving licenses.

Greece becomes the 3rd EU member state to formalize such an agreement with Georgia, signifying strengthening ties between the nations. The agreement was initially signed on September 26, 2024, in Athens, between the governments of Georgia and Greece.

Following the completion of internal state procedures, the Greek Parliament ratified the agreement. It will come into effect once the Georgian side is officially notified of the ratification.

“Holders of valid driving licenses issued by either country will be able to exchange their licenses for equivalent ones in the other country without the need to pass theoretical or practical tests, provided they are legally residing in that country. This will facilitate their better integration into the local community”, - said Levan Beridze, Georgian Ambassador to Greece.
