Shalva Papuashvili meets with President of the EU Parliamentary Assembly

The Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia, Shalva Papuashvili, met with Pia Kauma, President of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly.

Shalva Papuashvili underscored the importance of Georgia`s constructive engagement with the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly and highlighted the Assembly`s role, alongside OSCE/ODIHR, in providing objective assessments of parliamentary elections held in Georgia.

He also briefed the President of the Assembly on recent legislative acts initiated and adopted by the Georgian Parliament, as well as on upcoming legislative priorities.

The meeting further addressed the current situation in the South Caucasus region.

The discussion took place within the framework of the 150th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, held in Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan. The Georgian parliamentary delegation, led by Sh. Papuashvili, includes Nikoloz Samkharadze, Chair of the Foreign Affairs Committee, and Maia Bitadze, Chair of the Environmental Protection and Natural Resources Committee.
