The Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia met with the Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Republic of Malta, Anġlu Farrugia. Shalva Papuashvili expressed his gratitude for Malta’s consistent support for Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The parties discussed the state of bilateral relations between the two countries, including cooperation at the parliamentary level. Both sides underscored the importance of strengthening bilateral engagement and expressed readiness to further enhance interparliamentary collaboration.
Shalva Papuashvili provided his Maltese counterpart with an overview of current developments in Georgia, parliamentary activities, and the country"s progress and plans on the path to European Union integration.
The meeting took place within the framework of the 150th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, held in Tashkent [Uzbekistan]. The Georgian delegation, led by the Speaker of Parliament, includes Nikoloz Samkharadze, Chairperson of Foreign Relations Committee, Maia Bitadze, Chair of the Environmental Protection and Natural Resources Committee.
