According to the project, the first, second, and third platforms will be completely renewed. The company that won the tender has already started dismantling the existing platforms.

In their place, new, higher, modern-type platforms will be constructed on the territory of Tbilisi Central. The rehabilitation involves removing the underground passage between the platforms, as well as eliminating the pedestrian stairs leading from the Central building down to the platforms. According to the project, instead of the pedestrian stairs, 4 new escalators will be installed at the station. Passenger waiting areas will also be updated.

During the rehabilitation process, fire beacon devices and emergency lighting will be installed on the platforms.

The total cost for the complete renewal of Tbilisi Central is approximately 7 million GEL. Georgian Railway plans to complete the renovation works at Tbilisi Central in the autumn of 2027.
