Prime Minister of Georgia said that his Government had decided to appoint a Special Representative for Relations with Russia after concluding that the position was necessary in addition to the work carried out by Aleko Tsuladze.
As he noted, considerable work had been done under Tsuladze’s leadership, but the government’s experience had highlighted the importance of having a dedicated special representative.
"The position of Georgia`s Special Representative for Relations with Russia became vacant in December last year. After that, we focused on the section operating within the Swiss diplomatic representation. As you know, Aleko Tsuladze, a former member of the government, was appointed as our representative to that section. Our focus was on the section.
A great deal of work has been done recently under Aleko’s direct leadership. However, during this period, we realized that it was also very important to have a Special Representative in place and appoint someone to the position. Accordingly, taking our experience into account, we made the final decision to appoint a special representative", - said Irkali Kobakhidze.
