As a result of operative-searching and investigative activities carried out by employees of the Investigation Service of Ministry of Finance of Georgia, two individuals were detained on the fact of unlawful use of a trademark committed by a group of persons.
The investigation determined that, with the aim of obtaining illegal income, the accused were producing counterfeit alcoholic beverages in particularly large quantities under the trademark of “Jack Daniel’s” and storing them in a warehouse belonging to one of the detained persons. As a result of the search, law enforcement officers seized 300 bottles of counterfeit alcoholic beverages worth GEL 22,400.
Investigation is underway under Article 196, Part 3, Subparagraph “g” of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which envisages imprisonment from 3 to 5 years.
