Officers of the Central Criminal Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs have arrested 12 people on charges of illegal purchase and storage of narcotic drugs in a particularly large amount, facilitating their sale, and illegal cultivation of plants containing narcotic drugs.
Among the detainees are both persons with previous convictions, as well as citizens of Georgia and foreign countries.
As a result of intensive investigative actions carried out by law enforcement officers, during the personal search and residential homes of the accused persons, as well as during the investigative experiment, a particularly large amount of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances prepared for sale were seized from the places indicated by them, including: one kilogram of mephedrone, ketamine, MDMA, methadone, alpha PVP, mushrooms containing psilocybin, pills containing morphine, pregabalin, hashish, tetrahydrocannabinol and marijuana.
Among the detainees are persons for whom, in order to expose them, the police replaced the parcels sent to them and seized a particularly large amount of narcotic drugs as evidence.
Law enforcement officers have discovered specially arranged greenhouses where a particularly large amount of the narcotic drug “cannabis” was illegally grown and cultivated. As a result of investigative actions, materials necessary for packaging and cultivation of narcotic drugs have also been seized. The investigation is underway under Articles 260, 260-4, 19-260 and 265-1 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, envisioning up to 20 years or life imprisonment.
