Agriculture is one of the main pillars of Georgia’s economy. We have made rural development a top priority and the results are tangible - agricultural output has doubled and exceeded 8.5 billion GEL. The Prime Minister of Georgia said this at the presentation of the agro co-financing program.
He emphasized the role of farmers in strengthening rural areas and ensuring the country's economic stability, noting that in recent years exports of agrarian products have increased 2.5 times, surpassing 1.8 billion USD. This means that Georgian products are steadily securing a decent place in international markets.
Irakli Kobakhidze spoke about the new agro co-financing program, which integrates all key areas of agricultural production and aims to strengthen medium-sized farms.
“We want you to be successful modern entrepreneurs with stable incomes and continuous growth prospects. That is why we are significantly increasing both the lower and upper thresholds of financing - in some cases, state co-financing will double. The state is ready to cover at least 50% of costs in primary production and 40% in processing and storage. For more effective communication, a unified registry of farms will be launched on July 1 of this year. This tool will help us accurately identify the needs of each farmer, make state support more targeted and accelerate the financing of your projects. At the same time, we are introducing systemic monitoring, which will allow us to continuously assess the program's effectiveness and make timely adjustments where needed. A strong farmer means a strong village and a strong village is a guarantee of our country's economic sovereignty and national security. This program is another important step toward strengthening Georgia as a modern and strong agrarian state”, - said the Head of Government.
