Officers from the Central Criminal Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, in collaboration with the Customs Department of the Revenue Service of the Ministry of Finance, apprehended an Iranian national - A.R., born in 1981 - on charges of illegal possession, storage, and smuggling of a substantial quantity of narcotics into Georgia.
During a thorough inspection at Tbilisi International Airport, law enforcement officials seized 30 pills containing a significant amount of the narcotic substance “Methadone” from the defendant’s personal and hand luggage, which will serve as crucial evidence in the case.
The investigation is ongoing under Articles 260 and 262 of the Criminal Code, which stipulate a potential imprisonment of up to 12 years.
