We would certainly wish to see a far more competent, far more experienced, and far more professional person in this important key position - Makhashvili

Chairman of the Parliament`s European Integration Committee, on Monday said it was up to the EU and its member states to decide whether they would replace EU High Representative Kaja Kallas, adding that Georgia would prefer a far more competent, experienced, and professional person in this key position.

As he noted, the European Union was currently facing extremely difficult geopolitical challenges and navigating complex international developments.

"The EU is at the epicenter of these processes. If there was ever a time when a professional, competent, and experienced diplomat was needed - a person of impeccable diplomacy and expertise - it is now.

It is regrettable that at this critical moment the head of the EU’s External Action Service is Kaja Kallas.

Of course, it is up to the European Union and its member states to decide whether to replace her or not, and how they assess her, but from Georgia`s perspective, given the history of the incompetent, undiplomatic, and unfair attitude that Kaja Kallas has shown toward Georgia, we would certainly wish to see a far more competent, far more experienced, and far more professional person in this important key position", - said Levan Makhashvili.

His comments came after European Parliament Vice-President Javi López stated that Kallas was unfit for the position.
