As a result of a joint operation carried out by customs officers of the Revenue Service of the Ministry of Finance together with officers of the Central Criminal Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, two cases of illegal smuggling of a particularly large quantity of medicines containing narcotic and psychotropic substances, as well as the narcotic drug cocaine, across the state border were uncovered at the Sarpi customs checkpoint.
Based on suspicion, as a result of a detailed inspection by a customs officer of foreign nationals, both their persons and their luggage, 78 tablets of prohibited medicines (methamphetamine and pregabalin), as well as more than 2 grams of the narcotic drug cocaine, concealed in a travel bag and on their bodies, were discovered.
The case materials were handed over to the relevant service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia for further action.
