Officers of Khashuri Police Division of Shida Kartli Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs have arrested two previously convicted individuals - K.K., born in 1985, and T.D., born in 1980, on charges of large-scale theft.

The committed crime envisions up to 5 years in prison.

The investigation established that the defendants robbed two enterprises of a foreign company in Shida Kartli region at different times, from which they illegally took possession of up to 600 kilograms of non-ferrous metal wires and metal aggregates.

According to operational information obtained by law enforcement officers, the accused persons handed over stolen non-ferrous metal to one of the scrap metal reception plant in exchange for a large amount of money for personal gain.

The police seized up to 14,000 GEL obtained through illegal sale and stolen copper wires, as well as an expensive aggregate as evidence.

As a result of the above-mentioned illegal act, the enterprises of foreign companies suffered a total of up to 50,000 GEL as a financial damage. The investigation into the case is underway under Article 177, Part II, Subparagraphs "a" and "b" of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which refers to theft committed by trespassing a storage facility, which caused a significant damage.
