Significance of Georgia went beyond defining it merely as a Black Sea state, the country served as a bridge between regions - Kvrivishvili

Significance of Georgia went beyond defining it merely as a Black Sea state, the country served as a bridge between regions whose futures were becoming increasingly interconnected. Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia said that the said this in her speech at the 34th session of the United Nations International Maritime Organization [IMO] Assembly in London.

“Georgia’s identity and prosperity as a maritime country had always been shaped by the waters that connect continents, cultures, and economies.

Georgia’s economic development trajectory is unequivocally strong - from 2021 to 2024, the average real GDP growth reached 9.8%. This dynamic continued in 2025, with the economy growing by 7.8% in the first 9 months of the 2025. This growth is largely driven by the transport, logistics, and maritime sectors, highlighting the role of connectivity and strong value chains as fundamental drivers of our economic prosperity.

Georgia stands before the IMO member states as a committed partner in creating a connected and sustainable maritime future based on joint cooperation”, - said Mariam Kvrivishvili.
