In accordance with the Government Decree, the number of defense forces for 2026 has been determined to be at most 37,000 personnel, as reported to the Defense and Security Committee by Grigol Giorgadze, Deputy Defense Minister.

According to him, the Government Decree on the endorsement of the number of defense forces is submitted to Parliament on an annual basis, concurrently with the draft state budget. Similar to 2025, the number of defense forces for 2026 has been determined to be at most 37,000 personnel.

Alexander Tabatadze, Chair of the Committee, introduced the legal initiative of the Parliamentary Majority MPs - the Draft Tax Code. As he elucidated, the amendments extend the list of entities eligible to receive identified information about certain taxpayers, supplementing it with the Defense Ministry. Respectively, the Ministry is entitled to, in view of controlling the fulfillment of the permit conditions, inquire about the tax and customs secrets.

The Committee approved the document.
