Chairperson of the Central Election Commission addresses young voters, specifically those participating in Elections for the first time.
“On 4 October, the municipal elections will be conducted. Citizens of Georgia will elect, for a 4-year term, the mayors of their respective municipalities and the members of municipal councils (Sakrebulos). Among these citizens will be you, as well as more than 46,000 other young individuals who, for the first time this year, will have the opportunity to participate in elections.
Your first step in active public and political life is the exercise of your suffrage. In these elections, you have for the first time the opportunity to take part in elections - a process of paramount importance for the development and consolidation of a democratic society.
Therefore, as you prepare to cast your ballot for the 1st time, remember that this is an opportunity to contribute to the governance and the future development of your country, your city, and your community. It is a chance to support issues that are of interest and importance to you, to promote the consolidation of a democratic society, and to advance the culture of electoral participation.
Do not think that a single vote does not make a difference. Everything begins with one vote - especially when it is your vote. It is you who decides who will serve as your mayor and who will work in your municipal council. This very choice determines the character and development of the place where you live and to which you are deeply attached.
For the Election Administration, and for me personally as the head of this institution, engagement of young people in the electoral processes is of particular importance. This is our common cause. I appeal to you: exercise your right, come to the elections, and elect the representative bodies of your municipality. With sincere regards, Giorgi Kalandarishvili”, - writes the Chairman of CEC.
