Agriculture Committee heard the report of the National Agency for Sustainable Land Management and Land Use Monitoring

Giorgi Misheladze, the Chair of the LEPL National Agency for Sustainable Land Management and Land Use Monitoring, introduced the activity report for 2024 to the Agriculture Committee.

According to the reporter, the land resource database and the land balance establishment, as well as the stock-taking of the windbreak belts and the realization of the state program on accessibility to the state pastures, have been set as the priorities of the Agency.

The agricultural lands constitute 40%, and the non-agricultural lands - 60% of the country’s territories. As per the reporter, the Agency ensures the regular update and specification of the land data.

“To establish the updated land balance, the Agency has processed land use data on over 620,000 hectares in 2025. The procedures covered Ajara, Ninotsminda, Akhaltsikhe, Adigeni and Borjomi territories and 1,200,000 more hectares will be registered by the end of the year”, - he reported.

Misheladze introduced the outcomes of the windbreak belt registration and reviewed the scheduled activities. According to him, the registration process shall be accomplished by January 1, 2027.

Regarding the state programme on accessibility to state pastures, he provided the account of the conclusion of the Lease Agreement in 2024 on 89 land plots. The annual lease amount for the pastures issued for rent through auctions exceeds 402,000 GEL and the total lease amount for the pastures delivered directly is 80,000 GEL.

Gela Samkharauli, Chair of the Committee, gave a positive assessment of the report. He observed that the Agency inquires and analyzes the scope of agricultural and non-agricultural lands under state ownership. The Committee took note of the report.
