Levan Davitashvili to become the Prime Minister`s chief economic advisor and secretary of the Economic Council

Levan Davitashvili will become the Prime Minister`s chief economic advisor and secretary of the Economic Council. Irakli Kobakhidze, Head of the Georgian Government, said this at today’s briefing.

"The country`s economic development remains our top priority. It is fundamental not only to improving the living standards of our citizens but also to the advancement of every sector, strengthening of Georgia’s democratic institutions, and the reinforcement of our foreign policy positions. To enhance our system for planning and implementing economic policy, we have decided to strengthen the role of the Economic Council. As part of this initiative, we will review its functions and composition. Levan Davitashvili will assume the roles of Chief Advisor to the Prime Minister on economic issues and Secretary of the Economic Council.

Managing the Ministry involves a heavy routine that can limit the focus on strategic priorities. By entrusting Davitashvili with these new responsibilities, he will be able to dedicate himself fully to accelerating economic growth, attracting investments, and implementing proactive measures for Georgia`s development. He is an exceptionally qualified economist, and we are confident that from this position, he will contribute significantly to our shared goals. This restructuring will support even greater momentum in Georgia`s economic progress and investment climate", - said the Prime Minister.
