Giorgi Gabunia meets with Chairman of the Government of the AR of Adjara

Giorgi Gabunia, Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Culture, met with Sulkhan Tamazashvili, Chairman of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara.

The parties discussed common visions and key challenges related to strengthening cultural policy and the professional development of specialists in the field.

The Culture Committee held an offsite meeting in the plenary hall of the Ajara AR Supreme Council in Batumi.

Eliso Bolkvadze, the Culture Minister of Adjara Autonomous Republic, reviewed UNESCO’s decision to confer the status of the City of Music upon Batumi and the Ministry’s plans in this matter. The attendees engaged in a discussion regarding the intention of declaring Batumi as the Capital of Culture of Georgia in 2025 and the establishment of the Beshumi Music Festival, introduced by MP Archil Beridze, the Delegate for Batumi and Khelvachauri.

Zviad Bolkvadze, the Director of the LEPL Batumi Art and Music Center, introduced the activities and scheduled events of the Center. The Committee also deliberated on the culture projects, programs and plans in Ajara AR municipalities (Batumi, Kobuleti, Khelvachauri, Shuakhevi, Keda, and Khulo).
