The “Georgian Dream” responds to the Speaker of the Moldovan Parliament - Igor Grosu claims that Georgia is envious of his country because, according to him, Moldova is advancing faster on the path of European integration.
In response, Tbilisi states that international rankings and indices speak to Georgia's success and indicators.
It was also stated within “Georgian Dream” that they frequently see an unfair attitude from Brussels toward Georgia, unlike toward Moldova and Ukraine.
According to Levan Makhashvili, the Chairman of the European Integration Committee of the Parliament, the statements they hear from their colleagues are smile-inducing.
“One thing must be said clearly: Georgia does not compare itself to anyone, especially not to Moldova and Ukraine, which have chosen a different path of integration with Europe - one, apparently, through the violation of territorial integrity, and the other through unification with another country altogether.
However, periodically we have to present specific statistics and data, because we see unfair and slanderous assessments toward Georgia.
When we see an incorrect comparison of Georgia with other countries, we will once again remind the public of the situation in Georgia in terms of fighting corruption, economic development, combating poverty, etc. Ultimately, let the public decide where Georgia actually stands today - whether it is ahead or not, especially compared to Ukraine and Moldova”, - said Levan Makhashvili.
